Medical Colleges in China recognized by HPCSA
- HPCSA is the abbreviation of The Health Professions Council of South Africa. It is a statutory regulator that set up for protecting the public health, assessing the qualification of practitioners and guiding applicators to complete registration.
Requirements for Registration
- The HPCSA will require medical students graduated from medical universities outside South Africa to pass the Board Examination and register with the HPCSA in order to practice in South Africa.
- Plus, foreign trained medical graduates are furthermore required to complete two years of internship training at a recognized institution (if haven’t done this abroad), followed by a compulsory one year Community Service.
Application Documents for Exam
- You will need to provide the following documents to the HPCSA to apply for sitting the Board Examination:
- 1. HPCSA Application form
- 2. Notarized copy of degree certificate
- 3. sworn translation in English
- 4. documentary proof of internship training or equivalent
- 5. verification of credentials
- 6. recent Certificate of Good Standing
- 7. copy of passport/ID
- If the above documents are not enough to meet the lowest standard, supplementary documents such as transcript, program timetable, working experience statement, proof of English proficiency etc. may be requested by the Professional Board as well.
Credentials Verification
- In terms of verifying the authenticity of credentials, HPCSA shares the same standard with ECFMG (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates) since HPCSA has partnered with the ECFMG.
- According to the requirement of ECFMG, the medical school that students enrolled in should be listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools. But you'd better to inquire further about more information and real conditions to HPCSA.
