Xiamen University (XMU), founded in 1921 by Tan KahKee, the renowned patriotic leader of overseas Chinese, was the first Chinese higher-education institution established by an overseas Chinese. Fujian Provincial Government set up this scholarship in 2012 to finance international students to study inFujianin an undergraduate, master's or doctoral program. The scholarship will cover tuition, accommodation, cost of course materials, etc.
(1) . Eligibility:
Applicants shall be non-Chinese citizens in good health.
- Applicants for undergraduate studies must hold a high school diploma and be under the age of 30.
- Applicants for master's studies must hold a bachelor's degree and be under the age of 35.
- Applicants for doctoral studies must hold a master's degree and be under the age of 40.

July- August. A list of scholarship nominees will be submitted by XMU Admissions Office to the Department of Education of Fujian Provincial Government for final approval.

- 1. The scholarship is to sponsor master's or doctoral candidates. Applicants shall be non-Chinese citizens who graduate from or are to graduate from universities outside China(or at least one year after graduation from Chinese universities).
- 2. Applicants with their last degree to be obtained in China wish to carry out their master's or doctoral studies in China.
- 3. Applicants for master's degree studies shall have obtained a bachelor's degree and be under the age of 35.
- 4. Applicants for doctoral degree studies shall have obtained a master's degree and be under the age of 40.
(2). Application Procedure:

Note: This scholarship is not available to students applying for Master's Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages(MTCSOL) and their native language or in a third-country language such as English or French.

Mid-June. A list of scholarship nominees will be submitted by XMU Admissions Office.
XMU offers scholarships to doctoral, master's and undergraduate candidates. Scholarship awardees will have their tuitions covered (a maximum of 3 -4 years for doctoral programmes, 2-3 years for master's programmes, 4-5 years for undergraduate programmes). Moreover, XMU provides monthly living allowances for outstanding master's or doctoral candidates in accordance with the standards of Chinese Government Scholarships.
