Delegation of Scholars and Senior Media Professionals from African Portuguese-Speaking Countries Visits CUC

A Delegation of scholars and senior media professionals from African Portuguese-speaking countries led by Li Chong, Deputy Director-General of the Department of African Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Fodé, the President of University Amílcar Cabral visited CUC on Wednesday, May 8. CUC Vice President Duan Peng met with the members of the delegation and discussed media education cooperation between China and African nations.

The visit of the delegation is part of a project being undertaken by CUC which is related to Belt and Road Forum and Beijing summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. In connection with the project, the delegation paid the visit and conducted research on mainstream media institutes in china and held discussions with Chinese journalists and scholars.

According to Duan Peng, China has a long-standing relationship with Africa and the cooperation between the two countries has extended from diplomacy, economics and trade from areas such as education and media. This visit enables the delegation to acquire a greater knowledge of media education in China. CUC is willing to discuss in depth with the delegation about cooperation on talent cultivation and scientific research, etc.

At the meeting, Deputy Director-General Li Chong from the Department of African Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that in the past 20 years, education and media communications have played a more and more important role in enhancing mutual understanding of Chinese and Africans. CUC has always actively participated in projects of China-Africa cooperation.

According to President Fodé, the Belt and Road Initiative opened a new era of China-Africa cooperation. Universities and media institutes in Africa hope for direct dialogue with education and media circles in China. Meanwhile, he expessed his hope that more education and media professionals of China would visit Africa to facilitate the development of media education there.
