The Chinese version.

A group of ECNU’s graduate students, led by Prof. Dou Weilin, used their knowledge on educational assessment and evaluation policies to compelete a qualified translation of the OECD’s work. This book is expected to offer advice for schools on the assessment of students, teachers, schools, school leaderships and educational institutions, with the aim to improve educational quality, fairness and justice.

Miao Hongcai, president of Shanghai Education Publishing House, expressed that the translated version by ECNU not only introduced the latest international perspectives on education evaluation to Chinese people, since it also promotes the development of research and applications for education evaluation across the country.

Although some people believe that assessment and evaluation are a burden to students’ academic performance, according to Andreas Schleicher, director for education at OECD, assessments and evaluation can lead to positive effects on learning and teaching. Thus, it is essential to form a virtuous cycle of feedback to improve upon any school’s educational quality as well as on the aspects of school management.
