SAFEA Deputy Director Yi Fanping Giving Guidance in SMU’s Work

SMU News, Nov. 13th On the afternoon of November 9th, Yi Fanping, Deputy Director of Department of Cultural and Educational Experts, State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA), along with his retinue, inspected the work of introducing foreign experts in SMU. Present at the meeting were SMU Party Committee Secretary Chen Dayun, Vice-president Ding Keyi and relative faculties from School of International Education, SMU's Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs Office, School of Computer Science and Technology, and School of Law.

Chen Dayun extended the warm welcome to the leaders from SAFEA and Sichuan Provincial Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs and expressed the heartfelt thanks for their long-term support to SMU's work on introducing foreign experts, while Ding Keyi reported its more details in recent years. Besides, relative faculties from the School of Computer Science and Technology and School of Laws made an introduction to positive effects exerted by foreign expert projects on the university's discipline development, promotion of teachers' research capability, guidance on student further education. Also, they explained their weaknesses and difficulties faced in conducting the projects.

The leaders from SAFEA and Sichuan Provincial Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs expressed their thanks to SMU for laying importance on the foreign experts' work. Yi Fanping affirmed that SMU's work conforms to the spirits of the 19th CPC National Congress and spoke highly of our systematic construction on foreign expert projects, thus reaching the beneficial maximum of inviting foreign experts through conducting down-to-earth and distinctive projects in place. At the same time, the leaders suggested that SMU could sort out, integrate and optimize the projects, continue to adopt active, open and effective talent mechanism, invite high-level experts to SMU to give lectures in multiple channels, thus pushing forward our discipline development.

At the meeting, Chen Dayun, on behalf of SMU, declared that SMU will continue to adhere to policies and actions of international education, in accordance with its reality, raising the quality and interest of the projects and profoundly advancing its work on introducing foreign experts.
