Confucius Institute Scholarship in Jiangsu Province

In order to support the construction of Confucius Institute, promoting Chinese Internationalization propel and Chinese cultural spreading, training the eligible Chinese language teacher and Chinese language elite, the general headquarters of Confucius Institute/ national Han cultural office established this Scholarship, to subscribe the international students, academics and Chinese language teacher to study in receiving institutions.

1. Enrollment Category and Application Requirement

The student should be non-Chinese, healthy, and age should between 16 to 35 years old(Chinese language teacher’s age can be lifted to 45 years old, bachelor’s degree age have to under 20 years old).

2. Scholarship Content and Standard.

Confucius Institute Scholarship inclusive: tuition fee, accommodation fee, living expense, and complimentary medical insurance. Among all of the contributions, living expense standards will be 2500 RMB/Month for Bachelor’s Degree students and 1 study year or 1-semester student. 3000 RMB/ Month for Master’s Degree in Chinese Language International Education major student.

3. The Proceedings of Enrollment

1). Since this project was released, the student can log in to the Confucius Institute website and searching for receiving institutions and the majors’ information. Then register the private account, filling and submitting the “Confucius Institute Scholarship Application form” online.

2). Han Cultural Office authorize the Confucius Institute in other countries, relative oversea Chinese Language testing node, Chinese Embassy education, and cultural division, receiving universities and relative high education schools in those countries without Confucius Institute for recommendation institutes, to review the qualifications and application materials of territorial applicants according to the enrollment requirements, and to summarize and submit the list of recommendation before May 20 Hand in Han.

3). The receiving institution is responsible for reviewing the applicant’s admission qualifications and submitting the qualified pre-admission list of scholarship international students to the Han Cultural Office.

4). Han Cultural Office will organize experts to evaluation and recruit those who meet the requirements. The list of winners will be inquired on the scholarship website, and the receiving institution and recommendation institution will be informed at the same time, and the recommendation institution will inform the applicant himself.

5). The receiving institution shall send the admission notice, registration notice, application form for visa of overseas students to China (JW202 Form) and electronic version of Confucius Institute Scholarship certificate and other admission materials to the receiving address in the application form, and notify the recommending institution and the applicant in time.

4. Application materials

Applicants are required to log in to the scholarship website, fill in the application form of Confucius Institute Scholarship, and attach the electronic documents of the following supporting materials:

1). A scanning copy of the passport photo page.

2). HSK, HSKK or BCT, BCT (oral) performance report.

3). The highest education certificate (graduation expectation certificate or school study certificate, if not in Chinese or English, corresponding notarial documents shall be provided).

4). Letter of recommendation and letter of commitment. Applicants for master's degrees in Chinese international education shall submit the letter of recommendation (written in Chinese or English) from two tutors with the title of associate professor or above, as well as the letter of commitment to engage in Chinese teaching for at least 5 years after graduation. For Chinese major students in Colleges and universities in countries without Confucius Institute, a letter of recommendation issued by the President shall be provided.

5). Applicants under the age of 18 shall submit the power of attorney signed by the legal guardian in China.

6). The winners of the "Chinese Bridge" World University and middle school Chinese competition shall provide the scholarship certificate issued by Han Cultural Office. The winners of each competition area shall provide the certificate of award and the letter of recommendation issued by the organizer of the competition area.

7). The on-the-job Chinese teacher shall submit the on-the-job certificate and recommendation letter issued by the office.

8). Applicants for the one-year study + master's degree in Chinese international education must submit the agreement signed with Confucius Institute or the proposed teaching unit.

9). Other supporting materials required by the receiving institution.

5. Precautions

1). If the passport name in the application form is inconsistent with the scanned passport information, or the relevant supporting materials are incomplete, it shall be deemed as invalid.

2). If the winner is unable to report for any reason, he/she shall notify the receiving institution in writing 15 days before the date of registration and indicate the reason. The scholarship qualification will not be reserved for those who fail to report at the end of the period without any reason, and they cannot apply for the scholarship again.

3). Those who fail to pass the entrance examination will be disqualified.
