Shantou University Medical College (SUMC) is an important part of Shantou University (STU), a public university located in Shantou, Guangdong, China, a beautiful and peaceful coastal city with fresh air in South China and very close to Hong Kong.

1. Library
Both STU and SUMC have libraries and the two libraries offer a wide range of services, recourses and facilities designed to enhance self-directed learning, group collaboration and academic success.
2. Fitness Facilities
The main campus houses a series of athletic facilities with a total area of 36,200 square meters including 28 table tennis tables, 17 badminton courts, 14 basketball courts, six tennis courts, three volleyball courts, three fitness rooms, two swimming pools, one gymnastics room, one staking rink and one football field.
3. Simulated Medical Center
Designed as an actual modern hospital, the center provides an advanced platform for early clinical practice and a sophisticated clinical skills training and assessment base to our medical students and residents from all levels.

The program is conducted in English and taught by qualified basic science and clinical faculties with established international textbooks and publications are as references.

1. Course Structure
The curriculum includes basic courses in the first year, system-based basic & clinical courses, skill training courses and elective courses in the second and third years, clinical courses in the fourth year, clinical internship and elective courses in the fifth year. Courses are taught in English by qualified basic science and clinical faculties, with established international textbooks and publications are as references for the students. The program effectively integrates basic medical science with advanced clinical training.
2. International Assessment System
To assess student performance, SUMC uses internationally accepted assessment instruments such as Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), Teaching Objective Structured Clinical Examination (TOSCE), and the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).
3. Research Opportunities
Strengthening the training of the research abilities of our students is also an important part of our “top-notch education”. Vigorous scientific training and cultivation of students’ scientific thinking and scientific attitude have been incorporated into our teaching plan. Students are offered with laboratory instructions and research opportunities.

In order to graduate with a Bachelor Degree from SUMC, you must

Upon graduation, a Bachelor Degree of Medicine accredited by the Ministry of Education of China will be awarded.
Commencement for all graduating students is held every year in June. It is a university-wide event. Families, friends, and guests are invited to celebrate this important milestone with their graduates.
1. Activities
SUMC encourages students to form their own organizations and to participate in various campus activities and community services, providing facilities, equipment and financial supports.
2. Accommodation
SUMC provides single rooms in shared apartments on campus for international students. Each student has their own room. Kitchen, bathroom and toilet are shared by the flatmates. All apartments are equipped with air conditioner, refrigerator, washing machine, water heater, electromagnetic oven, kitchenware, bed, sofa, bookcase, desk, chair, wardrobe and other necessary furniture.
The accommodation fee varies from ¥800 to 1600 per month, depending on room type. Heat, electricity, water, Internet, etc. are charged separately.

4) Have a bachelor degree, or have successfully completed a university preparatory program, or be attending a university.

For applicants who are in China: If you are an employee, you still need to provide employment separation certificate and your current residence permit. If you are a student, you need to provide a transfer certificate, leaving certificate, certificate of attendance rate issued by previous school and your current residence permit.
