Recently, Lincoln C. Chen, President of CMB (China Medical Board) sent a letter to CSU: this year, three of CSU’s CMB applications were approved after the expert review and board resolution, with a total amount of funds reaching 310,000 US dollars. These are “Mobile phone smoking cessation” (CMB open competition which is short for OC) by Doctor Liao Yanhui from the Second Xiangya Hospital, “Computer simulation system for neurosurgical training” by Doctor Li Xuejun from Xiangya Hospital and “Distance Continuing Education of Dermatology for Primary-level Physicians” (CMB E-learning) by Doctor Chen Jing from the Third Xiangya Hospital.

Both OC and E-learning projects are open competitive projects carried out by CMB in the recipient institutions in China. CMB this year invited 31 colleges and universities including Peking University, Fudan University and Zhejiang University in OC project review. CBM received a total of 133 OC project applications, of which 10 were funded after the evaluation. And the E-learning project is a newly-established competitive project by CMB this year, which promotes medical education by means of IT. 30 colleges and universities including Peking University, Fudan University and Zhejiang University were invited to participate in the E-learning projects, and a total of 150 applications were submitted, of which 10 were finally funded by CMB.
