In order to share and exchange new ideas and new discoveries in the field of sociology and social construction, and together discuss new practices, new developments and new trends in the new era, on June 21st, “70-year New China High-Level Academic Seminar on Sociology and Social Construction” was held in Jinan. Wang Yuhua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of University of Jinan, and Li Shanfeng, President of Shandong Provincial Sociology Society and researcher at Shandong Academy of Social Sciences, attended the meeting and delivered speeches respectively. Liang Lixia, Head of School of Political Science and Law of University of Jinan, presided over the opening ceremony of the seminar which was hosted by University of Jinan (UJN), and jointly organized by UJN’s Department of Development Planning and Discipline Construction, and School of Political Science and Law. Over 50 supervisors, scholars and postgraduates from more than 10 universities and research institutes including Renmin University of China, Nanjing University, Nankai University, Shanghai University and Shandong Academy of Social Sciences, attended the seminar.
On behalf of UJN, Deputy Secretary Wang Yuhua extended a warm welcome to the supervisors, experts and students attending the seminar, and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the experts who have long cared for and supported the development of UJN. Wang Yuhua pointed out that, the experts and scholars attending the seminar came from over 10 universities and research institutes across our country, and it was hoped that all the guests could offer their constructive thoughts and share their ideas around the topic “Sociology and Social Construction”, so theoretical and disciplinary support can be provided to promote social construction and achieve modernization in national governance capability and systems.
In the session of theme reports, four experts shared their views and achievements around the topic “Sociology and Social Construction in the 70 Years of New China”, exhibiting a wonderful feast of ideas for the delegates. On the afternoon of June 21st, the seminar was divided into two parallel forums whose topics were respectively sociology and demography.
In the 40 years since the reconstruction of sociology in our country, a stable disciplinary system has taken form, and fruitful research results have been achieved, showing positive effects on the development of our society. However, there is still room for improvement in theory, application research and dialogue with international academic community. This seminar brought together our country’s leading experts in the field of sociology, and offered a platform for them to exchange thoughts and reflections in academic research and explore new developments and new trends in the field of sociology and social construction in the new era, having positive academic significance.
