On the afternoon of March 28th, sponsored by the Mental Health Service Center of the Psychology Department of Beijing Normal University, Stephen Hays, founder of ACT therapy, was invited to give a lecture entitled “The Role of Psychological Flexibility in Human Well-being” in the Jingwen Lecture Hall. Professor Zhu Zhuohong, a professor of the Key Laboratory of Mental Health of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was an on-site special guest. Qiao Zhihong, secretary of the Party Committee of the Psychology Department of Beijing Normal University, relevant teachers of the Mental Health Service Center of the Psychology Department, teachers and students of psychology, and people from all walks of life who are interested in ACT jointly listened to the lecture on the spot.

After introducing the speaker, guests and teachers, Mr. Chen Shitao of the Mental Health Service Center of the Faculty of Psychology formally started the lecture with warm applause. Stephen Hayes used humorous and witty language to stimulate the warm atmosphere of the scene through interaction with the audience. Through citing examples and his own experience, Stephen Hayes introduced the main ideas of ACT and explained the significance of "psychological flexibility" as the core of ACT. At the end of the lecture, Stephen Hayes patiently answered questions from the audience.

Through the lecture, the audience have a preliminary concept of ACT and have a better understanding of its main points. Stephen Hayes, with his own experience and 71-year-old still in a spiritual and enthusiastic state, explained that "the other side of pain is a valuable life", and the audience expressed that they had gained more growth in the lecture.
