The University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) kicked off the annual joint work conference on its Confucius institutes operating around the world in Chengdu, Sichuan province, on Dec 3, 2018.
Zhao Zhongxiu, vice-president of the UIBE, extended a welcome to all participants, saying he hoped the UIBE's Confucius institutes would take the opportunity to deepen cooperation, learn from each other, take advantage of the UIBE's academic strengths, and further explore the key characteristics of the institutes.
Presidents of 10 UIBE's Confucius institutes that UIBE currently supports reported on their work over the past year.
In his concluding remark, Jiang Qingzhe, UIBE Party chief, expressed sincere appreciation to the participants' efforts and hard work on behalf of the university, and spoke highly of the achievements made by the Confucius institutes.
Jiang said the Confucius institute, was an important window and bridge for reform and opening-up in education, and its various international branches were playing an important role in promoting cultural exchanges, mutual understanding of the peoples and economic and trade cooperation.
