CUC Delegation Visits Famous Universities in Central and Eastern Europe

Chairman of the University Council Chen Wenshen, led a delegation to the Dimitrie Cantemir Christian University in Romania, University of Debrecen in Hungary, University of Roland in Hungary, Mykolas Romeris University in Lithuania, as well as some other well-known universities in Central and Eastern Europe from October 18 to 26. Aimed at deepening the mutual understanding and cooperation, the trip was important for upgradinge CUC’ international education level and building a world-class university.

During the visit to the Dimitrie Cantemir Christian University, Romania, Chairman Chen Wenshen held talks with Professor Colina Adriana Dumidis, the Chairman of the Boards on cooperation double-degree in the field of Journalism and Communication and co-construction of Confucius Institutes. Both sides renewed the inter-school agreement, laying foundation for further exchanges and cooperation between the two universities.

During the visit to Hungary, Chairman Chen Wenshen visited one of the oldest and largest public universities in the country, Debrecen University, and held talks with the Executive Vice President, Professor Binder Akesh and representatives of relevant colleges. The two sides reached a preliminary cooperation agreement on the “3+1” student exchange and teachers exchange programs and discussed the possibility of cooperation in the fields of humanities and communication. During the visit, Chairman Chen and Executive Vice President Akash also signed an inter-school agreement on behalf of the two universities to formally establish a friendly and cooperative relationship.

Subsequently, the delegation also paid a visit to Roland University, which raised five Nobel Prize winners and ranked as number one university in Hungary. Prof. Imre Hamar, the Vice President of International Relations at the University of Roland and the Dean of Confucius Institute in Hungary warmly welcomed the CUC’s representatives. Both sides reached a wide consensus on Hungarian "3+1" student exchange program, as well as teacher exchanges and cooperative research program. Chairman Chen also invited Vice President Hamar to visit CUC in the near future to further implement the cooperation between the two universities.

Later on, Chairman Chen visited Mykolas Romeris University in Vilnius, Lithuania. The two universities had established a cooperative relationship in 2012 and have been maintaining close communication and interaction. Chairman Chen Wenshen held talks with Prof. Ying Jia, Vice President of Teaching and Research at the Mykolas Romeris University, and heads of relevant colleges. The two sides carried out several professional double-degree programs and exchanges opinions on the exchange programs under the framework of “Erasmus+cooperation”. The Vice President of Yingjia also expressed his hope to jointly set a Chinese major with CUC, and discussed the possibility of building a Confucius Institute.

All the universities visited are world. The visit of delegation not only promoted the popularity of CUC in Central and Eastern Europe, but also had great significance in building a world-class university strengthening the cooperation between universities along the Silk-Road under the Belt and Road Initiative.
