Chen Wenshen, Chairman of the University Council of CUC, met professor Rudolf Gallo Cornejo, President of the Catholic University of Salta of Argentina and his colleagues on Tuesday, May 14.

The two sides held talks on the establishment of exchanges and cooperation between the two universities and signed a memorandum of cooperation.

Speaking on the occasion, professor Chen said the exchanges between China and Argentina have been increasingly strengthened and cooperation in higher education has also received strong support from the two governments since the G20 summit held in Argentina last year. He expressed his hope that various activities such as summer camp, student exchange, and teacher exchange could be carried out for the benefit of both.

In President Cornejo’s view, educational exchanges play an important role in deepening mutual understanding and enhance mutual relationship. With the development of bilateral relations, more and more Argentines are eager to know Chinese culture and strengthen cooperation with China, he said. Taking consideration of similar professional setting, Cornejo advised the both universities to carry out pragmatic cooperation in various fields such as media, broadcasting and Chinese teaching in the future, thus promoting further development of academic and cultural exchanges between two countries.

Later on, President Cornejo and his colleagues visit the Media Museum of CUC.
