China-easah Center for Cooperation of Intelligent Agriculture Established in SDUT

On the afternoon of January 15, Shangdong University of Technology (SDUT) and European Academy of Sciences, Arts and Humanities (EASAH) established the “Center for Cooperation of Intelligent Agriculture” to carry out in-depth cooperation on the research and innovation of intelligent agriculture. For SDUT, this is another important international platform of scientific research in the field of intelligent agriculture, and also a new starting point for international exchange and cooperation.

Prior to establishing the Center, Lu Chuanyi, Secretary of the Party Committee of SDUT, met with Ante Gliboda, Vice President and Academician of EASAH, and Bi Zhengqing, Academician of EASAH, to discuss the cooperation and exchanges between the two sides.

 

 

The establishment ceremony was held in the conference room on the 9th floor of Hongyuan Building. Those present in the ceremony were Zhang Tiezhu, President of SDUT, Ante Gliboda, Bi Zhengqing, Chu Ruiyun, Deputy Director of Department of Agricultural and Rural Affairs in Shandong Province, Yu Xiudong, Director of Bureau of Science and Technology in Zibo, Lan Yubin, Academician of the Academy, Head of the School of Agricultural Engineering and Food Science of SUDT and Assistant to the SDUT President. Those who also attended the ceremony included chiefs concerned from School of Agricultural Engineering and Food Science, Department of International Cooperation and Exchange and Department of Science and Technology.

 

 

On behalf of SDUT, Zhang Tiezhu gave a speech, briefly introducing Zibo, the university and the discipline of agricultural engineering. He pointed out that, “the Center aims to comprehensively cooperate in the field of intelligent agriculture, complement each other and carrying out collaborative innovation. It is not only of great significance for promoting exchanges and cooperation in the field of research on intelligent agriculture between China and Europe, but also will have an impact on innovation-driven development and the replacement of old growth drivers with new ones in Shandong Province. And also, this will become a landmark starting point for SDUT in terms of international exchanges and cooperation. With the joint efforts of both sides, the center will become a world-known research institution in the field of intelligent agriculture and yield encouraging results, thereby promoting the continuous development of China-EASAH intelligent agriculture and making due contribution to economic and social innovation and development.”

 

 

In his speech, Ante Gliboda briefly introduced the European Academy of Sciences, Arts and Humanities. Gliboda said that, “the nearly half a century of contacts with China enables him to witness the development of China and the key role that Chinese universities have played in promoting China’s development.”“No pains, no gains,” said Gliboda, “The Academy will work together with SDUT to conduct cooperation in the field of academic research and jointly promote the development of the Center, therefore contributing to the advancement of agriculture in China and even in the world.”

 

 

Bi Zhengqing said that he would continue to cooperate with SDUT, globalizing the research results and Chinese culture and thus making SDUT and China known in the world.

 

 

Chu Ruiyun briefly introduced the basics of agriculture in Shandong Province. He said that it was one of the most important measures to establish the Center for China-France innovation cooperation. Chu commented that, “It will play a positive role in introducing world-class technology, jointly training quality personnel, and promoting technological innovation and the development of the discipline of intelligent agriculture.” He hoped that with the joint efforts of the both sides, the Center could be built into a first-class, globally advanced research institution of intelligent agriculture, thus leading intelligent agriculture in Shandong and even the whole country. Chu continued that,“The Center will also continuously provide new technologies and train new personnel for, and make new contributions to the development of national intelligent agriculture.”

 

 

Yu Xiudong said that the Center would play an active role in transforming and upgrading agriculture of Zibo City. Yu promised that the Bureau of Science and Technology in Zibo would fully support the Center, provide thoughtful service, and jointly push forward the agriculture in Zibo.

 

 

 

Zhang Tiezhu and Ante Gliboda, on behalf of SDUT and the Academy respectively, signed a framework cooperation agreement at the ceremony of the “China-EASAH Center for Cooperation of Intelligent Agriculture”. According to the agreement, during the three-year period of validity, the two sides will launch a cooperation plan to mutually benefit each other, use the research and teaching results to mutually complement each other, establish cooperation centers, provide platforms of research and academic exchange for scientists and graduate students, and achieve win-win cooperation.

 

 

Lan Yubin presided over the ceremony. He said that he would try his best to make it one of the best centers, promote the construction of the discipline of agricultural engineering, and put Shandong’s intelligent agriculture and advanced technological achievements into practice, thereby contributing to replacing old growth drivers with new ones in the field of agriculture in Shandong Province.
