Delegation from University of Nairobi, Kenya, Visited BJTU
On September 4th, President NING Bin met with the delegation from Kenya led by Peter M. F. Mbithi, President of University of Nairobi (UoN) and Philip Mainga, Acting Manager Director of Kenyan Railway Corporation (KRC).
Firstly, NING Bin extended welcome to the delegation and introduced about the history, discipline features, service for national rail transport construction and cooperation and exchanges with African counterparts of Beijing Jiaotong University. He said this visit was on the occasion of China-Africa Cooperation Forum, BJTU has maintained long-term friendly partnership with Kenyan government, universities and enterprises. In recent years, BJTU has jointly conducted talent cultivation with Kenyan Railway Corporation and China Communications Construction Corporation for Kenyan railway construction, which resulted in great achievements. He hoped that BJTU would further strengthen cooperation with UnN and KRC to make contributions for economic and social development of Kenya.
Peter M. F. Mbithi expressed gratitude to BJTU for the hospitality and introduced the history, discipline setting and internationalization of UoN. He hoped that both sides would enhance communications to build up all-around partnership. Also, he invited BJTU teachers and students to visit UoN. Philip Mainga spoke highly of the achievements BJTU has made in enrolling Kenyan students and cultivating Kenyan specialization-equipped talents for railway sectors. He hoped that both sides would carry out in-depth cooperation on railway talent cultivation for Kenya.
After the meeting, President NING Bin signed the MoU for Construction and Cooperation of Proposed Kenya Railway College with Peter M. F. Mbithi and Philip Mainga.
The delegation also held discussion with the Kenyan students on campus and visited the Traffic & Transportation Experiment and Teaching Demonstration Center.
Vice President GUAN Zhongliang and principals from the School of Economics and Management, Office of International Affairs, Center for International Education and National Education and Service Center of Rail Transportation Technology were also present at the meeting.
