The two-hour Gala was presented by more than 200 performers of 16 art groups from Tucson and other places of Arizona. Mr. Yuan Dong, counselor from Chinese Consulate at Los Angeles and UA vice president Dr. Joe Garcia, attended and spoke at the Gala. Tucson mayor Jonathan Rothschild also attended and congratulated the Gala, and thanked the Institute for helping Tucson community know better about China.

The news about the Gala was featured on the official website of Confucius Institute Headquarters.

Following Dr. Zhao’s arrival, the two universities will implement the work objectives for 2014 as formulated during the eighth Global Confucius Institute Conference in Beijing last December and several rounds of discussions and exchanges: to increase the number of students learning Chinese; to hold Confucius Day activities; to organize summer camps to visit China; to develop core teacher project; and to carry out exhibition, performance and lectures.
