In his opening speech, Jiang Qingzhe, party chief of the UIBE, said he hoped to combine economic development in the Greater Bay Area and UIBE's advantages from its various disciplines, to jointly explore issues in the forefront of China's foreign economic and trade cooperation, help it create a high-level development path for China's opening up to the outside world, develop a more innovative and stable open economy, so as to provide more creative ideas and practical opportunities for the Chinese economy in the new era.

The forum, hosted by UIBE and organized by UIBE's research institutes for Shenzhen and Hainan, discussed various topics, including how economic and trade relations between China and the United States will affect the Greater Bay Area, the Belt and Road Initiative and Shenzhen's role in the new era, etc.
