NEW BUPT PROFESSOR WINS PRESTIGIOUS IEEE COMMUNICATIONS SOCIETY AWARD

Professor Norman C. Beaulieu who has been a visiting professor of the School of Information and Communication Engineering, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) since October last year is the 2014 winner of the IEEE Communication Society Communication Theory Technical Committee Technical (CTTC) Achievement Award.  The award citation reads, "for fundamental work on the analysis of fading channels and diversity systems".

The Basis for Judging from the CTTC website reads, "The award will recognize members of the Communication Theory Technical Committee (CTTC) of the IEEE Communications Society who have been involved with CTTC, have done outstanding work in communication theory, and have achieved a high degree of visibility in the field."

Announcement of the award took place at GLOBECOM 2014 in Austin, Texas in December. Last year's winner was Professor Andrea Goldsmith of Stanford University who visited BUPT in 2013. Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications is the first Chinese University to have one of its Professors be awarded the esteemed Technical Achievement Award of the Communication Theory Committee of IEEE.
