September 17th – 22nd Renmin University China (RUC) Executive vice-Chancellor WANG Liming led a group of representatives on a visit to Minsk, Moscow and Irkuzk. In Belarus they visited the Vice-President of the Belarus National University (BNU) and the education department at the Chinese Embassy at Belarus. During their time in Russia the group of representatives visited the People’s Friendship University (PFU), Irkuzk University (IU) and met with Ambassador FAN Xianrong of the Chinese embassy at Russia.
On September 18th WANG Liming led the group to visit BNU and meet with the Vice-President there where both leaders discussed the situation of their respective institutions, the history of both universities and the specialties of subjects taught there. They also explored the possibilities for future cooperation between the universities, particularly with regard the School of Law.
That afternoon, WANG Liming led the group of representatives to visit the education department at the Chinese Embassy at Belarus, where the head of the department LI Wenhua discussed with them Sino-Russian relations, further education and exchange student programs between the two countries.
On the 19th September, WANG Liming led the group of representatives to visit PFU in Moscow, where the Vice-President of PFU held a meeting for them, signing a continuing agreement for cooperation with RUC and agreements pertaining to exchange student programs. Participants at the meeting recalled the history of cooperation between the two schools in the field of Russian Literature, and the possibility for future cooperation given that both schools are similar, in the areas of the Silk Road Academy and double-major degrees.
Next, WANG Liming led the group to the departments of Culture and Social Sciences, and the Department of Languages where further discussions were held regarding cooperation in the fields of Law and Russian Language, finally the group of representatives audited lessons within the departments.
That day WANG Liming met with Ambassador FAN Xianrong and described to him the cooperative programs established between RUC and further education institutions in Russia and the excellent results achieved so far. He also discussed with Ambassador FAN the situation of education with regards exchange study programs between China and Russia.
On the 20th September, the group of representatives visited IU and met with university leaders there for a meeting. WANG Liming expressed congratulations on the 100th anniversary of the founding of IU, and discussed the history of cooperation between the two institutions in the areas of News and Russian Language. Professor ZHAO Yonghua of the News Department at RUC who was at IU at the time for an international conference also attended the meeting.
Director of the Development and Planning branch of RUC, ZHU Xinkai, Deputy-Dean of the School of Law, GAO Shengping and Deputy Director of the International Exchange Office ZHANG Damiao and LI Sha of the foreign langages department also accompanied the group of representatives.
