In accordance with the relevant requirements of the Central Committee and the Shandong Provincial Committee of CCP, on the morning of January 28, SDUT held the 2018 Democratic Life Meeting of the Party Committee in the conference room on the ninth floor of Hongyuan Building. The meeting focused on the theme of “strengthening the innovative theory, building up the “Four-kind-consciousness”, strengthening the “Four-self-confidence” and shouldering the responsibility with passion, so as to firmly implement the decision-making and deployment of the Party Central Committee in a realistic and pragmatic manner”. We should dig deep into the ideological roots, clarify the direction of rectification, and seriously carry out criticism and self-criticism.

BAI Hao, head of the 31st Supervisory Group of Shandong Provincial Committee of CCP and deputy director of the Provincial Education Department, attended the meeting together with his three team members, LI Liqiang, WANG Lin and ZHU Yvzhang. LYU Chuanyi, Secretary of the school Party Committee, presided over the democratic life meeting.

LYU Chuanyi conducted a cross-check on behalf of the school party committee. He briefed on the implementation of the inspection and rectification of the democratic life meeting of the Party Committee of the school in 2017 and the special democratic life meeting in 2018. From the following three aspects, namely, earnestly studying and carrying out Xi Jinping's socialist thought with Chinese characteristics in the new era, firmly implementing the concept of new development and creatively promoting the implementation of key tasks of major projects, and implementing the spirit of the Eight Provisions of the Central Committee, especially resolutely preventing and overcoming formalism and bureaucracy, LYU had pointed out and investigated the 14 main problems and their manifestations at present and analyzed their causes of the problems from 4 aspects, namely, theoretical study, political position, consciousness of reform and innovation , and consciousness of purpose. In addition, he put forward 10 measures of future improvement in 3 aspects, namely, strengthening the construction of leadership and contingent of cadres, strengthening the implementation of the Party's main responsibility in an all-round way, and promoting the high-quality development of school undertakings.

Centering around the theme of the 2018 Democratic Life Meeting, the members of the Party Committee of the school reviewed the Party Constitution and the relevant laws and regulations within the Party, focused on checking the serious problems in the ideological and political education, mental state and work style, deeply analyzing their reasons, putting forward the rectification measures, and briefing the relevant personal matters.

Members of the Party Committee of the school had confronted the problems directly, grasped the key points, analyzed themselves, their responsibilities and their work, and made serious self-criticism by deeply finding out the problems and their root causes. In the spirit of being highly responsible for the Party, comrades and their undertakings, the members of the Party Committee of the school are open and honest in criticizing each other on the issues of finding real problems and their root reasons, and discussing shortcomings of each comrade. The members sincerely accepted the critical opinions and suggestions, and expressed their gratitude for these; in addition, they promised to attach great importance on this issue in the future rectification, carefully sorting out and rectifying them one by one.

BAI Hao had given a brief comment on this democratic life meeting. He pointed out that the democratic life meeting of the Party committee of Shandong University of Technology in 2018 was solid and fruitful, and its members had received a good exercise of Party spirit. This democratic life meeting had been well prepared, and a profound investigation of their problems had been more seriously carried out; and their criticism and self-criticism had been clearly directed for rectification and reform in a serious manner that had met the requirements of the Central and Provincial Party committees, and it had created a new atmosphere and high quality.

With reference to the benchmark of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee and the requirements of the Central and Provincial Party Committees, BAI Hao also pointed out the gaps and deficiencies in the investigation, mutual criticism, rectification and implementation of the democratic life meeting.

Centering on the study and implementation of Xi Jinping's socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era and the spirit of the Nineteenth National Congress of the Party, in order to carry out the main responsibility of governing the Party and running schools, and to do well in all aspects of school work, BAI Hao had emphasized that firstly we should constantly improve our political position and continue to work hard in in-depth study and implementation; second, we should adhere to putting political construction in the first place, and perform well in governing the Party and running schools; Third, we should improve the implementation of democratic centralism and build a strong collective leadership; Fourth, we should earnestly carry out the rectification and implementation, and promote the various undertakings of the school to a new level.

LYU Chuanyi said that the opinions put forward by Comrade BAI Hao who was on behalf of the supervisory group of the Provincial Party Committee had conformed to the reality of the school and had strong pertinence, which had the important guiding significance for the future work of the school. According to the opinions of the supervisory group and the opinions of mutual criticism, the school party committee and its members should carefully sort out the problems listed in this democratic life meeting, and adhere to self-revolution, self-improvement and self-enhance. We should also make lists, set up accounts, clarify responsibilities and strengthen implementation, so as to better promote the development of the school cause.
