Wang Qiaoqiao, painter and teacher at the School of Fine Arts of Shaanxi Normal University, won honorable mention with his water color painting “The Gale” in the 2013-2014 First Shenzhen International Water Color Biennale on December 10, 2013.
Wang Qiaoqiao’s work, which has already been collected by the Shenzhen Art Gallery, is among the 24 works awarded and she will receive a 25,000 yuan prize.
In the panorama composition “The Gale”, Wang uses techniques like twisting and distortion to depict the urban view as the gale rips off the fog and haze and the sun shines through the clouds. The intense colors and vehement touches create a dazzling atmosphere, implying profound environmental concerns.
The Biennale features 250 water color paintings from 39 countries, selected from the 2825 entries by more than 1700 artists from 54 countries, and the exhibition will last one month in the Shenzhen Art Gallery. A circuit exhibition will then be held in Shaanxi, Chongqing, Hainai, Heilongjiang, Yinchuan, Wenzhou and Ningbo.
