From may 20 to 21, sponsored by the Shandong Provincial Department of Education, Jinan University hosted the "Taishan Academic Forum - for civil infrastructure with nano-modified metamaterials" conference held in Jinan. More than 300 experts and scholars from China and the United States, Germany, Australia, Greece and India attended the meeting.

In the morning of 20th, the meeting started. Cheng Xin,  the secretary on behalf of Jinan University expressed warm welcome to the the experts and scholars who attend the meeting of Taishan Forum, held a warm congratulations to the opening of the meeting and expressed good wishes to the experts gathered in Jinan, nano-modified Super material. Professor Surendra P. Shah, a fellow of the three countries of the United States, India and China, gave a speech on the excellent research of Jinan University on behalf of foreign experts and expressed his heartfelt thanks for the organization of the forum. Wang Baoxian and Li Guanghong the Vice Presidents of Jinan University attended the meeting.

During the forum, Prof. Cheng Xin gave a lecture entitled "Special Type and Functionalized Cement-based Composites", which gave us a brief introduction to relevant research and achievements in our specialty and functional cement-based materials.

Shah, Prof. Kejin Wang from Iowa State University, Prof. Konstantin Sobolev of the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, Prof. Li Zongjin from the University of Macau, Prof. Viktor Mechtcherine from the University of Dresden, Germany, Prof. Dietmar Stehpan from the German University of Berlin, Germany Research Institute Wolfram Schmidt, Professor Maria-Konsta of the University of Cesar de Santa Claus, Greece, Professor CS Poon of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Professor Li Hui of Harbin Institute of Technology, Professor Wang Fazhou of Wuhan University of Technology made a report respectively and the participating experts and scholars had a lively discussion.

From the Tsinghua University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Zhejiang University, Shandong University, Chongqing University, Tongji University, Hohai University, South China University of Technology, Central South University, Hunan University, Southeast University, Beijing Jiaotong University, Wuhan University of Technology, Beijing University of Technology, Nanjing University of Technology, Shenzhen University, Dalian University of Technology, China Building Materials Research Institute, Shandong University of Architecture, Qingdao University of Technology, Yantai University and Jinan University, a total of more than 500 people listened to the report. The meeting was supported by the Ministry of Human Resources, International Cooperation and Exchange, and was actively organized by the key laboratory of building materials testing and testing technology in Shandong Province.

During the forum, a variety of academic exchanges, such as doctoral forums and poster exhibitions, have been carried out, helping participants fully communicated with each other. Experts at home and abroad have also made suggestions on how to further expand the impact of this forum, and agreed that the forum was very successful, and participants enjoyed valuable opportunities for exchange.

The conference, undertaken by University of Jinan, aims to strengthen exchanges with counterparts both at home and abroad in the field of civil infrastructure construction, so that scholars at home and abroad can understand the latest developments in the field of civil infrastructure construction. Through this forum, we could strengthen research and cooperation with other countries China counterparts, expand our  influence in the civil infrastructure construction field , provide a high level of scientific research and exchange platform for the participating experts. It will play an important role as a bridge and link to help teachers and students stimulate interest in scientific research, broaden the vision and help schools to strengthen the related disciplines, cultivate professionals, enhance the academic influence, accelerate the construction of university and promote international cooperation in the field of building materials in our province.

In the afternoon of 22th, Cheng Xin the secretary presided over the 2018 international conference which will be held in our school preparatory meeting and discussed in terms of the theme of the meeting, time, call for papers and other related matters. At the end of the discussion, the participants unanimously adopted the agenda of the meeting. The delegates visited the Key Laboratory of building materials preparation and testing technology in Shandong province after the meeting.
