From 25th to 26th, October, the 4th Qingdao International Rubber-plastic Forum was held successfully in QUST. The forum was organized by Key Laboratory of Rubber-plastics, Ministry of Education China, and co-organized by National Natural Science Foundation of China, Polymer Division of Chinese Chemical Society, LANXESS Deutschland GmbH, BASF ( China ) Co., Ltd., and China Rubber Industrial Association. The main topic of this forum was “Advanced Rubber & Plastic Materials and Processing Technologies”.

On the morning of 25th, October, the opening ceremony was held in No.3 Lecture Hall, Laoshan Campus of QUST. VIPs present at the forum included: Mr. Qin Min, Standing Committee Member of the Municipal CPC Committee of Qingdao City; Professor Hideki Shirakawa of Japan Tsukuba University, a Nobel Prize Winner in Chemistry; Professor Wang Fusong, the former Vice President of Chinese Academy of Sciences and an academician of CAS; Mr. Li Naisheng, Deputy Director-general of Department of Science & Technology of Shandong Province; Mr. Song Chengxiang, Deputy Director-general of Department of Education of Shandong Province; Doctor Ma Lian, Manager of Technology Cooperation Department from BASF; Professor Braubach, Vice General Manager of TRP Marketing Department from Lanxess; Professor Cheng Rong, Jiang Min and Yan Deyue, academicians of CAS; Professor Han Zhichao, the chief scientist of Institute of Chemistry CAS; Professor Dong Jianhua, the Head of Polymer Office of National Natural Science Foundation of China; Professor Ehrenstein from Institute of Polymer Engineering of Germany Erlangen Univeristy; Doctor Guo Xiangyao, General Manager of Technology Center of Lanxess Asia-Pacific; Mr. Ju Hongzhen, honorary president of China Rubber Industry Association; Mr. Gai Jian, Deputy Director of Department of Science and Technology of Qingdao; Mr. Fang Zhiping, the Director of Technology Department of SINOPEC; Professor Wang Guilun, Head of Technology Office of China National Petroleum Corporation; Mr. Yang Baozhu, the Minister of technology department of QPEC; Mr. Gao Qing, Secretary of Party Committee of QUST; Mr. Ma Lianxiang, President of QUST, and Mr. Li Qingling; Vice President of QUST. Mr. Zhao Shugao, Director of Key Laboratory of Rubber-plastics, presided the ceremony.

Mr. Qin Min addressed the Opening Ceremony on behalf of Qingdao Government and Municipal CPC Committee. He stated in his speech that the rubber industrial structure in Qingdao has already been well laid out. This Forum will positively influence rubber industry in Qingdao or even in China and promote the cooperation between China and foreign countries. Mr. Li Naisheng introduced the development of tire industry in Shandong Province . He said that the Forum could be considered as an ideal communication platform for experts in rubber-plastic industry and managers and R&D talents from corporations. This Forum is significant to optimize rubber industrial structure, establish well-known brand, and strengthen competition power of Shandong Province . Mr. Song Chengxiang congratulated on the outstanding achievements QUST has accomplished in recent years and hoped that QUST would keep its special features, constantly make innovations, increasingly promote the development of QUST with the help of high quality communication platform, such as international rubber-plastic forum.

President Ma Lianxiang generally introduced QUST to guests at the ceremony. He confirmed that the Forum would accelerate the research and development of rubber-plastics-related products, and promote the development of rubber industry in China , and make contribution to international rubber-plastic industry.

Managers and officers from nearly 300 corporations and universities have attended the Forum. Guests, including Professor Hideki Shirakawa, persons-in-charge from international corporations like Lanxess, BASF, IIC, DSM, SINOPEC, CNPC, and experts from China Rubber Industry Association, DAAD, CAS, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and QUST, gave their outstanding lectures on R&D of polymer materials and rubber-plastic, international rubber-plastic market, and R&D of automotive and industrial usage of rubber-plastic and so on.

The 4th Qingdao International Rubber-plastic Forum was closed successfully On the afternoon of 26th, October.
