On July 19th, the Symposium to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Marx and the 4th Symposium on the Innovation and Development of Ideological and Political Education organized by the China Higher Education Institute's Ideological and Political Education Branch were held in our BNU. Director of the Department of Ideological and Political Work of the Ministry of Education, Director of the Personnel Department Zhang Donggang, Member of the NPC Education and Culture Committee, Deputy Director of the Social Science Committee of the Ministry of Education, Deputy Director of the Academic Committee of the Chinese Higher Education Institute, and the Council of the Ideological and Political Education Branch of the China Higher Education Institute Consultant Gu Hailiang, Vice President of the Chinese Higher Education Society, Liu Chuansheng, Chairman of the China Higher Education Society's Ideological and Political Education Branch, Wang Binglin, Director of the Social Science Development Research Center of the Ministry of Education, Han Zhen, former Party Secretary of Beijing Foreign Studies University, and Vice Chairman of the Yunan Provincial Party Committee Secretary Tao Qing, Consultant of the Academic Committee of the Ideological and Political Education Branch of the Chinese Higher Education Society and Professor Chen Binggong of the Marxist College of Jilin University attended the meeting.
Party Secretary Cheng Jianping and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Li Xiaobing met with the leaders and experts at the meeting. They expressed gratitude to the leaders and experts for their concern and support for the development of the ideological and political education branch of the China Higher Education Institute and the ideological and political work of the school. He also said that the school party committee will support and guide the Secretariat of the Ideological and Political Branch as always to do all kinds of work, continuously improve the level of the meeting, play an active role, and contribute to the theoretical research and practical innovation of ideological and political education.
In his speech, Director Zhang Donggang summed up the important content and fundamental requirements of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s "5•2" and "5·4" speech spirits, and from improving political positions, implementing learning and propagating important political tasks; improving the quality of work, promoting the innovation and development of ideological and political education in colleges and universities; adhering to higher standards and improving the quality and ability of ideological and political education teams have put forward requirements for studying the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech and implementing the fundamental tasks of strengthening morality in colleges and universities. He hopes that the Ideological and Political Education Branch will continue to play the role of think tank and bridge, continuously enrich theoretical research and practice innovation achievements, and contribute wisdom to the innovation and development of ideological and political education in colleges and universities.
In her speech, Director General Liu Chuansheng explained the significance of this conference and learned from it in depth to understand the theoretical essence of Marxism; strengthen research and promote the roots of Marxism; focus on practice and promote the innovation and development of ideological and political education the three aspects. She put forward requirements for the ideological and political branch to strengthen the scientific research of Marxism and further strengthen the ideological and political education work in colleges and universities.
Professor Gu Hailiang made a special report entitled “Catch the fundamental task of cultivating socialist builders and successors—to learn the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's 5•2 and 5·4 speech”. Professor Gu Hailiang revolves around the new requirements of ideological and political education in colleges and universities in the new era, the common mission of college education in the new era and the fundamentals of running a school, the three basic tasks of college education in the new era, and the four hopes of General Secretary Xi Jinping on youth. The basic tasks and specific requirements for cultivating socialist builders and successors in colleges and universities in the new era were explained and interpreted.
Wang Binglin, Han Zhen, Tao Qing, Chen Binggong, Liu Jianjun, Wang Shuyin, Peng Qinghong, Feng Xiujun and other delegates around the "Communist Manifesto" and its significance of the times, Marxism and contemporary world socialism, Xi Jinping's new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the 21st century The historical process and valuable experience of Marxism and the sinicization of Marx’s doctrine, the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up, the innovative development of ideological and political education, the educational training of young Marxists and the mission of contemporary youth have been exchanged and discussed. The results of the conference were fruitful and significant, laying a good foundation for deepening the study of Marxism and promoting the innovative development of ideological and political education in colleges and universities.
More than 100 people attended the meeting, including members of the Board of Directors of the China Higher Education Society's Ideological and Political Education Branch, members of the Academic Committee, well-known experts and scholars, and representatives of college teachers and students.
