The TTU Delegation Visiting SMU

Date: July 13, 2018

SMU News, Jul. 9 The delegation, with four members from Texas Tech University (TTU) including President Lawrence Schovanec and Vice President Joseph Heppert, paid a visit to SMU. SMU President Zeng Ming and Vice president Ding Keyi met with these guests. Also present at the meeting were relevant staff members from School of Management, School of Economics, School of Computer Science and Technology, School of Chemistry and Environment Protection Engineering, School of Life Science and Technology, and the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange.

President Zeng Ming, on behalf of the university with 56 ethnic groups, extended a warm welcome to the TTU delegation. Representatives of two universities expressed they would expand, carry out, and deepen intercollegiate exchanges and cooperation while relative staff members from the Schools also showed their cooperation intention. For example, the School of Management hopes to collaborate with TTU in international academic journals; the School of Computer Science and Technology hopes to work with TTU on the "3+1" undergraduate training model; the School of Economics hopes to invite professors and scholars from TTU to give lectures at SMU and carry out student exchange programs between the two universities. Vice President Joseph Heppert and Professor Zhang Hong gave lectures at the university invited by the School of Chemistry and Environment Protection Engineering and the School of Life Science and Technology.

SMU and TTU signed an inter-school exchange agreement in June 2015. In 2018, the university will send 10 undergraduates to TTU for a-semester study. Through exchanges and cooperation between two universities, we can absorb and learn from each other's excellent teaching and research achievements, enrich the school-running level, and promote the construction of the “Double First-Class” university.
