According to the Announcement of the Filing or Approval Outcome of Specialty Setting for Higher Education Institutions in 2010, published by Department of Higher Education of Ministry of Education, QUST has been approved to enroll students of three new majors below since 2011, Chinese Language and Literature, Energy Engineering and Automation and Engineering of Internet of Things. So far, the number of undergraduate majors of QUST has reached 63.

In recent years, QUST has kept developing its traditional superior disciplines and enhancing the specialty of engineering, and at the same time coordinately developed with science, art, business, management, medicine and law in order to actively meet the change of Chinese economical structure. To satisfy the needs of talent market and increase the ability of international competition, by focusing on the development of hi-tech disciplines and applied disciplines and further optimizing the structure of disciplines, QUST has formed a reasonably designed, coordinately developed undergraduate major structure with majors of both science and art. The university has intensively developed the majors with good conditions, high educational quality, nice social reputation and promising developmental potential as its leading majors to promote the development of all majors. Until now, QUST has 5 national specialty majors, which are Chemical Engineering and Technology, Polymer Materials and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Automation, Applied Chemistry and Process Equipment and Control Engineering, 8 provincial key majors, which are Chemical Engineering and Technology, Applied Chemistry, Polymer Materials and Engineering, Process Equipment and Control Engineering, Material Physics, Mechanical Engineering and Automation, Electronic Information Engineering and Business Administration and 16 school level key majors.

QUST now has 63 undergraduate majors, including science, engineering, art, business, management, medicine and law, the newly opened majors can fill in the need of social development and have good foundation and good developmental prospect. (Translated by Susan JW)
