Recently, People's Government of Shandong Province awarded 119 comrades the honorary title of “Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contributions in Shandong Province in 2017” in an announcement. Two Professors of UJN—Huang Shifeng, from Shandong Key Laboratory of Building Materials Preparation and Testing Technology, and Zhao Yu, from School of Liberal Arts— won the title.

Professor Huang Shifeng, a doctoral tutor, has been committed to teaching and scientific research. He has won the second prize of the State Technological Innovation Excellent Award (ranking 2nd), the first prize (ranking 2nd) once and the second prize (ranking 1st) twice of Awards for Science and Technology of Building Materials, and another three provincial and ministerial awards. He has also taken charge of projects of Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Key Scientific Research Project on Military Ingredients, international cooperation projects, subprojects of 863 High-tech Program and 10 projects from Natural Science Foundation of Shandong on Major Basic Research and other provincial and ministerial level projects, and has participated in Pre-Study Project of 973 Program. In addition, He has published more than 30 papers in SCI and owned 15 national invention patents, the results of which have been successfully applied to national engineering and defense. The laboratory he is responsible for has been regarded as one of the ten key laboratories in Shandong, and has been awarded the title of advanced collective of scientific and technological innovation in the building materials industry in China. The “Innovation and Intelligence Introduction Base for Advanced Cement-based Materials Discipline” declared by him has been selected as part of the innovation and intelligence introduction plan, jointly implemented by the Ministry of Education and the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA), for disciplines of institutes for higher learning. The course of "Scientific Foundation of Inorganic Materials" delivered by him was rated as one of the Excellent Courses in Shandong.

Professor Zhao Yu, Ph.D., postdoctoral fellow of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, has presided over and undertaken 8 national, provincial and ministerial research projects; has published more than 60 papers in Academic Monthly, Theoretical Studies in Literature and Art, Literature and Art Contend as well as other publications, many of which have been reprinted by Xinhua Digest, Chinese Social Science Digest, Guangming Online, and Digest News; has published 2 works and 1 co-published one, and the latter has been selected in the national library of philosophical and social science achievements. Besides, she has also been granted more than 10 awards for outstanding scientific research achievements at different levels and 5 of them are at or above the provincial level. Moreover, she also teaches undergraduates and graduate students Aesthetics, Western Literary Theory, Literary Theory, Introduction to Western Art, Western Aesthetics and Methodology of Humanities, and has trained graduate students for seven years to date. Therefore, she was awarded the Excellent Graduate Advisor of UJN in 2016.

The honorary title of “Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contributions in Shandong Province” is established by People's Government of Shandong Province to recognize young and middle-aged personnel with professional skills who significantly contributes to the economic and social development of Shandong. This is an important measure taken by the provincial party committee and provincial government, aiming to invigorate Shandong through science, education and human resources as well as to accelerate its development in economy and culture. With a 5-year management period, the project is selected every two years. The selected personnel are determined through recommendation from bottom to top, defense, expert review and public inspection. During the management period, experts who obtain the honorary title will enjoy post allowance from government for the high-level experts and receive priority support in the declaration and approval of scientific research projects. At present, a total of 26 people in our school have been awarded this title.
