UIBE Attends WTO Forum

A delegation of the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) attended the WTO Public Forum 2018 in the World Trade Organization's headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, from Oct 2-4, 2018.

 

 

Under the theme of "Trade 2030", the forum focused on sustainable development of trade, the role of technological progress in the promotion of trade, as well as a more inclusive and open global trade system. More than 2,500 people took part in the conference, during which some 112 activities were held.

 

During the session on E-Commerce and Inclusiveness of Global Value Chain, organized by China Institute for WTO Studies (CIWS) under the UIBE, Mr. Zhang Xiangchen, Permanent Representative of China to the WTO, Ms Arancha González, Executive Director of the International Trade Center (ITC), Mr. Ricardo Melendez-Ortiz, President of the International Center for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD), and UIBE's international trade professor Wang Jian were present as guest speakers.

 

 

Prof. Tu Xinquan, head of the CIWS, presided over the session. The participating experts and scholars discussed the influence of e-commerce on trade, developing countries and the global value chain, as well as the role of e-commerce in China's small and medium-sized enterprises.
