Huang Yong, a researcher in competition law studies of the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), attended a seminar with the theme of big data, artificial intelligence and competition law in Brussels on Nov 19, 2018.

Some 100 law enforcers, lawyers, business leaders and scholars, including Maureen Ohlhausen, former acting chairman of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, Christopher Yoo, professor of law with the University of Pennsylvania, and Thomas Fetzer, professor of law at the University of Mannheim in Germany, took part in the event at the Centre for European Policy Studies.

During a luncheon at the seminar, Huang gave a speech on big data and China's anti-trust law. He stressed that China's Internet enterprises' influence on monopoly industries, and the supervision should now give greater consideration to the needs of industrial development. Some attendees agreed on Huang, saying his speech offered a new perspective for the studies on competition in regard to the Internet and big data.

Huang also attended and presided over another seminar on due procedure in competition law enforcement, which was co-hosted by the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Mannheim. Huang summarized the similarities in institutional design objectives of the anti-trust law enforcement procedures in China, Europe and the United States, as well as their respective characteristics in practice.
