November 23, The 23rd International Business Conference was hosted in Jinan,by the UJN and Northern State University (NSU). Business School of UNJ take a part as a associate organizer.
President of North State University, Timothy Downs, together with other 16 delegates attended this conference. More than 150 well-known experts and scholars from the USA, Britain, Japan, Canada, South Korea, India and other countries, and from domestic universities like Xi'an Jiaotong University, Nankai University, Xiamen University, attended this conference. 38 scholars gave speeches during the conference. Chen Jixin, UJN's Secretary of the Party Committee, Zhang Shiqing, Principal of UJN, Wan Baoxian, Zhou Zongan, Vice Principal of UJN, and responsible officer of Administrating Office, Propaganda Department, Social Science Department, International Cooperation and Exchange Office, International Exchange College and Business School attended the event. Secretary Chen Jixin and Principal Zhang Shiqing met with representatives of domestic and foreign guests on the meeting.
The conference began on the morning of November 2. Principal Zhang Shiqing of UJN and Principal Timothy Downs of NSU attended the opening ceremony and delivered opening speechs. The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhou Zongan, Vice Principal of UJN.
Principal Zhang Shiqiang expressed warm congratulations on the holding of this annual meeting and warmly welcomed the arrival of experts. Principal Zhang mentioned in his speech that, under the background of marketing, globalization and the integration of information technology development, how to develop Chinese economy with the future of the world economy became a key issue that many economists focus on. The theme of this annual meeting is Cooperation and Sharing: The World Economy and China's Role. On the conference, issues like the global economic growth and development, and China's role in world economic development, etc, were discussed in depth. This is of great realistic significance. Principal Zhang introduced the running status, the development of disciplines, the cultivation of talents and the scientific research situation of UJN to the Chinese and foreign guests. As the organizer of the symposium, Principal Zhang expressed that, UJN will continue to provide the platform for discussion and sharing, and hope to build a new communication and development platform with the opportunity of the conference. UJN hoped that the participants will focus on the issues of common concern, and jointly promote cooperation and development of world economic research under the background of globalization.
Timothy Downs, Principal of Northern State University, in his speech, reviewed the course of the International Business Conference, and expressed the expectation and good wishes for the conference and looked forward to further cooperation with UJN in personnel training and scientific research. He hopes that on the basis of co-hosting meeting, UJN and the NSU will carry out deeper and more extensive academic exchanges.
After the opening ceremony was the keynote speech session. Professor Wang Aiguo, Dean of Business School of UJN and Professor Willard Broucek, Dean of School of Business Administration of NSU, were respectively presidents of the conference. Professor Pei Changhong, Director of the Institute of Economic Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, delivered a keynote speech entitled New Tasks, New Tasks in the New Stage: Prospects of China's Open Economy Construction. Professor Wang Yonggui, Dean of the School of International Business of University of International Business and Economics, Professor Willard Broucek of NSU, Professor Feng Zongxian Director of the Institute of International Economics of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Professor Pu Zhe, Dean of School of Economics and Management of Korea University, Professor Patrick Ring of Glasgow Caledonian University, Mr. David Simnick an Jiaotong University, was invited to be a visiting professor at UJN. Vice principal Zhou Zongan expresses welcome and gratitude to Professor Feng Zongxian and issued him the letter of appointment.
The International Business Conference is an annual international academic conference sponsored by the NSU, initiated for the international economy, international business management and other areas. It has been held for 22 sessions since its inception in 1994, and has a great academic influence in the US economic academy. In 2014, UJN and NSU signed an agreement, that the two sides will alternately host the annual meeting, sharing of international cooperation resources. The 23rd International Business Conference was held in Jinan for the first time. Experts and scholars from all over the world were working together to promote exchanges and cooperation in the field of global economic research under the background of globalization, providing a gluttonous feast for Chinese academy. This conference is a high level academic event, whose level and results of academic exchanges fully demonstrated the important influence of the conference. It provided the majority of experts and scholars opportunities to have in-depth exchanges and explore chances for future cooperation.
