The 4th National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition of Intelligent Transportation for College Students was held from May 18 to 19. Two works, “ Pyroelectric Infrared Safety Helmets for Children Based on Passive Infrared Induction” and “Foldable Shared Lock Based on Smart Wireless Bluetooth Connection”, instructed by Cui Na and Hou Shuzhan, and co-completed by Zhang Cong, Dong Di and Xia Mengyu from the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, as well as Li Gang and Han Xingzu from the School of Mechanical Engineering, won the second and third prize respectively.

With the theme of “Perception, Interconnection and Experience”, the competition encourages college students to select and organize entries in the fields of “intelligent transportation” and “traffic safety” to demonstrate their concern for and their solutions to modern transportation problems from a diverse perspective. It has attracted 67 well-known colleges including Tongji University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Dalian University of Technology and Southwest Jiaotong University to participate, 166 pieces of work submitted. Though this competition, our students displayed their fine qualities and improved their comprehensive application of knowledge, basic ability of engineering practice and innovation consciousness. At the same time, their interest and potential in intelligent transportation as well as scientific research and exploration, have also been stimulated.

The National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition of Intelligent Transportation for College Students, successfully held for four times so far, is guided by the Ministry of Education College of Road Transport and Engineering Teaching Steering Committee and co-sponsored by the Comprehensive Intelligent Transportation Committee of Chinese Association of Automation and the National Association of Transportation Equipment and Control Engineering. It is an academic nationwide innovation competition on intelligent transportation technology. The competition covers such professional fields as the transportation equipment and control engineering, traffic engineering, traffic safety, logistics engineering, automation, information, electrical engineering and computer.
