On December 16, 2013, vice president You Xuqun met guests from Cardiff University of United Kingdom at the Chang’an campus of the university. The guest were Prof. Martin Kitchener, dean of Cardiff Business School, Ms Laura Stethenson, Alumni Relations & Communications Officer and Ms Lily He, international officer of Cardiff Business School.

Mr. Xu Feng, director of SNNU’s International Programs Office, Mr. Zhang Zhihe and Mr. Lei Hongzhen, dean and vice dean of International Business School were also at the meeting.

After greeting the guests, Mr. You told them that the university encouraged its schools and departments to actively engage themselves in international exchange, as it was of vital importance to strengthen exchange and cooperation with world famous universities when SNNU was in the process of transition from a traditional teacher training university to a comprehensive research-oriented university. He hoped the cooperation between two business schools could be successful and expand to other fields and areas. He added that as Xi’an is a city of rich historical and cultural heritages, he believed the exchange between the two institutions would also promote the cultural exchange between the youth of two countries.

Prof. Martin Kitchener thanked the host for their hospitality. He said that Cardiff University valued the exchange and cooperation with outstanding Chinese universities. During this visit, he could feel that SNNU has been laying great emphasis on developing teacher’s research competence. He hoped the two institutions could strengthen cooperation in areas such as collaborative research and joint doctoral programs, so as to promoting the academic exchange of students and scholars.

The guests also held talks with their SNNU counterparts on issues including their joint doctoral program during their visit.
