From the 20th -25th October Vice-President DU Peng led a team of representatives from Renmin University China (RUC) to visit Cairo and Tehran and also attended an international conference on helping the aged. During their time in Egypt the team of representatives visited Ain Shams University (ASU), Cairo University (CU) and the Egyptian Department for Higher Education. Whilst in Iran, Vice-President DU Peng attended the conference on helping the aged whilst the team visited Tehran University (TU) and Shahid Beheshti University (SBU), as well as the Chinese Embassy in Iran.
At ASU, DU Peng and the team met with the President of ASU and both parties reflected upon cooperation between the two schools to date including the ASU One Belt One Road Research Centre. The possibility for student exchange programs was also explored at this meeting.
Visiting CU later in the day initial discussions were held to introduce each institution, and the President of CU expressed his interest in making concrete moves to develop cooperation in the One Belt One Road program, including research and student exchanges to improve mutual understanding between the institutions.
On the 23rd October DU Peng led the team on a visit to TU to meet with the President there, the possibility was discussed for student exchanges in the future particularly in the subjects of International Relations and Linguistic Culture and Media. The team also visited TU’s library, Document Centre and World Research Institute.
The team visited SBU and met with the Vice-President there were both parties exchanged ideas on how to cooperate in the areas of Chinese language studies and Iran studies, and how to develop high quality research together in the future.
