Vice President of University of Otago Helen Nicholson and The Head of International Office Jason Cushen visited Shanghai University on July 17th, 2019. Vice President of Shanghai University Gong Siyi met them at Lehu Building and Deputy Director of International office accompanied.
During the meeting, Ms Gong Siyi welcomed the guests at the beginning and introduced the International Strategy and recent development plan of Shanghai University. Then Vice President Nicholson introduced educational idea and school-running characteristics of University of Otago in details. The two sides have reached agreement in exchange student programs, overseas credit programs and customized summer curriculum programs and intended to engage in MBA programs and other research fields. Ms. Nicholson welcomed the Leadership of Shanghai University to visit University of Otago back to further discuss about disciplinary exchanges and to set up a solid foundation for cooperation.
Otago University, founded in 1869 in Dunedin, the Capital of Otago Province, South Island of New Zealand, is the first university in New Zealand. QS World University ranked 176th in 2020. The university has four colleges including College of Business, College of Health Science, College of Humanities and College of Science. On October 21, 1994 Shanghai established a friendly relationship as sister cities with Dunedin. In 2018, Shanghai University invited Professor Helen Nicholson, Vice Foreign Minister of University of Otago, to our school to attend the third round of University Presidents Forum. At the same time both sides decide to sign the framework agreement for cooperation.
