It was the third such visit for the ambassador at this forum.

CUPL President Huang Jin, awards the honorary professor certificate to Ambassador Dr. Michael Schafer
President Huang Jin warmly welcomed Ambassador Michael Schafer to  CUPL, remarking that for
many years, Ambassador Schafer has promoted support and cooperation between CUPL and German
higher education, as well as cooperation between CUPL and European Union higher education.
Ambassador Schafer has fostered friendly exchanges between CUPL and German universities, and given
special attention to the operations of the China-EU School of Law (CESL), located at CUPL.Ambassador 
Schafer expressed that it was his great honor to visit CUPL again. He spoke highly of CUPL for the great
contribution it has made to the Sino-German and Sino-European academic exchanges, and remarked that
he will continue to support and promote the sound development of cooperation between CUPL and
German higher education, as well as between CUPL and European Union higher education.

After the meeting, President Huang Jin awarded an honorary professor certificate to Ambassador Schafer. 
Following the ceremony, the ambassador delivered a speech to faculty and students titled
“The Welfare State under the Rule of Law as the Foundation of a Harmonious Society.”
