RAS Academician Vladimir L. Kvint Appointed as a Part-Time Professor at the School of Economics and Addressed the International Master’s Forum

On the morning of May 8th, the International Master's Forum (II) under the Programmes of Intelligence Introduction was launched, with the guest speaker being Vladimir L. Kvint, academician of Russian Academy of Sciences and professor of the School of Economics of Lomonosov Moscow State University.

 

At the invitation of SHU Global and the School of Economics, Academician Vladimir L. Kvint gave an academic report themed on “The Roots of the Theory of Strategy”. Teachers as well as master and doctoral degree candidates in relevant disciplines attended the lecture.

 

Before the lecture, the SHU School of Economics held a short ceremony of part-time professor appointment. Prof. Nie Yongyou, Executive Deputy Dean of the School of Economics, awarded a letter of appointment to Academician Vladimir L. Kvint and pinned a school badge on his coat, marking the start of the friendly cooperation between both sides.

Academician Vladimir L. Kvint introduced the theory of strategy from two aspects, i.e. the philosophical roots and the formation of the theory of strategy, explained the philosophical foundation of the theory of strategy respectively in ancient times and the modern period, and overviewed the philosophers who had key influence on the theory of strategy, such as Plato, Aristotle and Hegel. Vladimir L. Kvint also described several strategy models that serve countries, enterprises and individuals. Finally, he had heated discussions and interactions with the teachers and students present at the site.

On May 9th, Academician Vladimir L. Kvint gave a special report themed on “Strategy: Theory and Practical Applications” at the School of Economics. Through vivid examples, he presented an impressive lecture with rich contents about how to implement the theory of strategy. After the end of the lecture, Professor Nie Yongyou, Director of the Industrial Economics Research Center of SHU, signed a memorandum of cooperation with Vladimir L. Kvint, Director of the Strategy Research Center of Lomonosov Moscow State University, according to which both sides will carry out all-round cooperation on the exchange of teachers and students, joint training of talents and research.

Vladimir L. Kvint is an academician of Russian Academy of Sciences, and once learnt from Professor Leonid Vitaliyevich Kantorovich, a winner of Nobel Economics Prize in 1975. He’s currently a professor of the School of Economics and Director of the Department of Financial Strategies of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Research Director of the College of Economics and Finance of the Northwest Administration School of Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, Chief Researcher of the Central Economics and Mathematics Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences, Chairman of the Expert Panel of Pacific Investment Group (TIGR), member of Bretton Woods Committee (Washington D.C.) and a Fulbright scholar. As the founder and developer of the emerging market theory and the general strategy theory, Vladimir L.Kvint has published books including Global Emerging Markets: Strategy Management and Economics and Global Market Strategy: Theory and Actual Application. He is also the editor-in-chief of Russian Industrial Economy, and the deputy editor-in-chief of periodicals like Economics and Mathematical Methods, Administrative Consulting and International Periodical of Emerging Markets.
