1. History
Zhejiang Chinese Medical University (ZCMU) is a teaching and research-oriented university with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Chinese materia medica as its leading subjects. As a provincial key university in Zhejiang, it is under joint development by the Provincial Government of Zhejiang, the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the Ministry of Education. Based on Zhejiang Training School of TCM, founded in 1953, Zhejiang College of TCM was officially established in 1959 and relocated to its present place in 2000. In February 2006, it was renamed Zhejiang Chinese Medical University.

Ⅰ. Scholarship Category
Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students, International Students Scholarship of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University (including Academic Scholarship and Freshman Scholarship), Special Scholarship for International Students of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, etc.
Ⅱ. Application Conditions
(1) Applicants must be a foreign national, hold a valid foreign passport, friendly to China, an international student officially enrolled in IEC, not have applied for suspension, retention or extension of study in the previous academic year.
(2) Applicants must be enrolled in full-time degree program, have good moral character, be in good health, and abide by the law. Must not have a bad record of defaulting on tuition fees, disciplinary violations, etc.
(3) Applicants has no received any scholarship from other organizations or Chinese government.
(4) Applicants who apply for undergraduate scholarships must be under than 30 years old; Master's scholarship applicants must be under than 35 years old; Doctoral scholarship applicants must be under than 40 years old.The age for applying for special scholarships can be appropriately relaxed.
International students in their 1st year of undergraduate and graduate program will be evaluated on the basis of their academic performance and admission interview; Students in other years will be evaluated on the basis of their comprehensive evaluation in the previous academic year.
Ⅲ. Academic Requirements
(1) Provincial government scholarship applicants must rank no less than 30% of the total number of students of the same level and major in the academic year.
(2) University-level academic scholarship applicants should rank at least 50% of the total number of students of the same level and major in the academic year.
(3)There is no make-up examination record for the academic year courses of clinical medicine major applicants (except for public elective courses).
The application requirements for special scholarships are based on the Implementation Measures for Annual Evaluation of Special Scholarships for International Students of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University.
4. International Cooperation
Zhejiang Chinese Medical University has begun its international education and cooperation in 1984 and has established cooperative relationships with more than 120 educational, scientific research, and medical units in over 40 countries and regions such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Czech Republic. It has hired more than 50 foreign experts and scholars as visiting professors. ZCMU has established Confucius Institutes at Coimbra University in Portugal and the University of the Western Cape in South Africa and has built overseas TCM centers in Romania, Israel, and the Republic of Belarus. So far as right now, nearly 10,000 international students from more than 60 countries and regions have graduated from ZCMU.
Zhejiang Chinese Medical University provides bachelor programs, postgraduate master programs, and postgraduate doctoral programs. Currently, ZCMU provides a variety of scholarships for international students such as the Chinese medicine freshman scholarship, the Zhejiang provincial scholarship, and university scholarship.
