On October 30, Nature Photonics published online an article entitled “Chalcogenide Glass-on-Graphene Photonics”, which is part of a research jointly conducted by the research team of XMU College of Electronics Science and Technology (CEST) headed by Asso Prof. Luo Zhengqian and other three institutions including MIT. This research is well acclaimed for its major breakthroughs in graphene-based mid-infrared waveguide-integrated photodetectors and modulators, energy-efficient thermo-optic switches, and other high-performance glass-on-graphene devices.

This research paper is an outcome of the close collaboration of multiple research teams from home and abroad including MIT, XMU, University of Central Florida, Chongqing University, and University of Southampton, with CEST of XMU, as an institution, coming in the second place, XMU doctoral candidate Huang Yizhong as the co-first author, Asso. Prof. Luo Zhengqian as the joint author. It is worthy of note that this is the first time for XMU researchers to have their paper published in top-tier journal Nature Photonics, which boasts an impact factor of 37.8.
