Music Students Win Awards in Taiwan Youth Arts Festival

Seven music students from the School of Music of Shaanxi Normal University made to the final and won awards at the 2014 Taiwan International Youth Arts Festival held in Kaohsiung city during Jan 28 and Feb 5.

The Festival is one of the biggest and most professional international classic music contests, and this year's event drew more than 200 pianists, vocalists, accordionist, Chinese national music instruments players from China, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, India and Russia.

Three music performance majors Jiang Xiaorong, Zhang Qi and Sun Chenlei won the first place, third place and honorary mention in professional violin contest. Music education major Hu Huan won the special prize in professional violin contest.

Yu Liang, violin instructor, head of the Orchestral Music Teaching and Research Section of School of Music, and the vice colonel of SNNU Symphony Orchestra, served as the judge at the contest and was awarded the honor of "Excellent Instructor".
