With the wide use of nanometer material,  part of the nanometer materials will be inevitably released to the environment. The unique physical and chemical properties of nanometer material can cause nanometer toxicity and poses a major threat to environmental pollution and human health. In order to analyze and evaluate the chemical behavior of nanomaterials in the environment accurately, professor Wang Xiangke and associate professor Ai Yuejie in NCEPU with Hu Wenping , researcher at the Chemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences ,Tang Zhiyong, researcher at the Nano Center, Sun Yuebing and Li Jiaxing, associate researchers at the material science of Chinese Academy of Sciences Hefei institute and others, adopt advanced spectroscopy and theoretical calculation to analyze  the mechanism of the nanometer materials and environment pollution, with the surface functionalized modifications of nanometer materials, achieving the efficient removal of pollutants, at the same time, through analyzing the interface interaction between nanomaterials and environment medium to clarify the chemical behavior of nanomaterials in the environment.

The team from Department of Environmental and Chemical Engineering ,leading by Professor Wang Xiangke and associate professor Ai Yuejie, has made great research progress in the environment of carbon nanotubes composites chemical behavior analysis, and its radioactive nuclide in the environment, governance, heavy metal ions and organic pollutants. The work has been supported by the Outstanding Youth Science fund of National Natural Science Fund, the Major Research Plan Key Projects and the Central University Funding.
