A Chinese Corner Was Successfully Held in Lautoka Teaching Point of the CI-USP

On the afternoon of May 22, 2015, a Chinese corner was successfully held in Lautoka teaching point of the Confucius Institute at the University of the South Pacific (CI-USP) where students communicated excitedly with one another in Chinese having been learned in class. Some students even brought their textbooks for reference. Ar Pi, a student of advanced class, spoke Chinese as fluently as a native speaker and became the focus of the corner. She shared her experiences of Chinese learning with other fellow students who kept asking her about skills and methods of Chinese learning.

The two-hour Chinese corner ended successfully with students’ enthusiastic participation. All the students enjoyed this activity very much, for it not only provided them a chance to practise Chinese in Fiji but also made them get to know more friends with the same interest. More activities of this kind are expected by the students.
