Prof. MatsumotoToshiro and Zhang Xingyuan Visited SMU

SMU News, Mar. 8 On the afternoon of March 6, Prof. MatsumotoToshiro and Prof. Zhang Xingyuan from School of Economy of Okayama University gave academic lectures named Iron and Steel Industry of Northeast China in 1940-50s and Empirical Analysis of Patent Litigation: A Comparison Study between China and Japan respectively. Chaired by Zheng Changde the Dean of School of Economy of SMU, more than 100 people, including related teachers, undergraduates, graduates, and PhDs, attended the lecture.

Prof. Zhang delivered a speech on the research of differences in patent litigation between China and Japan. He mainly expounded it from three parts, that is, historic background of patent of China and Japan, comparative analysis of patent litigation between China and Japan, and empirical analysis of key factors of winning the patent litigation between China and Japan, which is beneficial for participants.

Prof. Toshiro started from iron and steel industry of northeast China in 1940-50s and vividly introduced the geographical distribution, origin, supply of capital goods of iron and steel industry of northeast China in the middle 1990s. He also mentioned differences in Sino-Japan culture and social background as well as relations of regional economic development in authentic Mandarin, which narrowed the distance between him and students and won a lot of applause.

In later interaction, students asked many questions for their confusion about their life and study. And two professors are very nice to answer students’ questions and raised unique and inspiring views.
