Date: March 18, 2019

On March 18, results of an international scientific research project undertaken by teachers from University of Jinan (UJN) were published in a world's leading academic journal —PNAS (Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences). PNAS, CELL, NATURE and SCIENCE are reputed as the top four journals worldwide. The impact factor of PNAS in 2017 was 9.5.

The project, consisting of researchers from the United States, China, Russia and India, is hosted by Prashant Loyalka, a senior researcher at the REAP (Rural Education Action Program) Research Center at Stanford University. The research team composed of Associate Professor Yu Ningning, Dr. Dong Jimei and Dr. Yuan Jian from the Institute of Higher Education of the UJN has fully taken part in the project since 2015. This is the first major scientific research project in which the Institute of Higher Education of the UJN participated under the cooperation with the Stanford REAP Center.

Teamwork is a basic way to conduct major scientific research projects but also an important guarantee for achieving high-level scientific research breakthroughs. The collaborative research offers team members from our school an opportunity to cooperate with other research teams from such renowned universities as Tsinghua University; Besides, Prashant Loyalka, also visits the UJN to give seminars on research methods so that the UJN research team has an access to cutting-edge research concepts and models, rigorous research styles, as well as international research methods and tools to effectively promote the rapid growth of team members and accelerate the output of top scientific research results.

The achievements made by this research offers a positive demonstration and plays a leading role in the international cooperation of humanities and social sciences in the UJN. It is an effective way for the scientific research team and its backbones to grow rapidly by extensively participating in major project research through coordination, expanding research horizons and improving the level of scientific research.
