SMU News, Feb. 28 On the afternoon of February 26th, the 2018 Meeting of Teaching Work Arrangement was convened at the conference room in the south on the Hangkonggang campus with President Zeng Ming attending and presiding over the meeting. Also present at the meeting were the deans and deputy deans in charge of teaching work of all Schools as well as related teachers from the Office of Academic Affairs and other relevant departments.

Zeng Ming delivered a speech with the theme of Deepening Reform of Education and Promoting Personnel Training in All-Round Way. He emphasized that we will conscientiously carry out the Party's policy toward education, thus putting it forward the high quality from a high starting point. In 2018, SMU’s undergraduate teaching work will be evaluated by the Ministry of Education. The whole university will make a concerted effort to finish this work and cultivate high-quality personnel, in accordance with the principles of Improving Building, Reform and Management Through Assessment; Combining Assessment with Building; and Giving Priority to Building. He noted, the faculty should remain as the guide of students by influencing and inspiring students with their positive attitude. Moreover, President Zeng stressed that as long as teachers and students work together, SMU can pass the assessment and then urge its education to a new level. With new requirements of correcting, transferring bad manners and fostering healthy tendencies, university authorities will lead the group to visit each School to discuss and resolve key problems impeding the progress of education quality.

At the meeting, relevant teachers from the Office of Academic Affairs gave a report on lines and key points of teaching work in 2018 and requested that each School should do it's according to duty based on requirements and monthly calendar. Related teachers from the Office of Development Planning and Discipline Construction notified the relative information of assessment and underlined the future work schedule on some major occasions. In addition, related teachers from Student Enrollment and Employment Office introduced their work on student enrollment and employment in 2017.
