“Visiting an Ancient Village: An Archeological Oral Account by Shi Xinbang”, a book published by Shaanxi Normal University Publishing House Co., Ltd., was listed in the “October Top Ten Booklist by Chinese Higher Institution Publishers”, a list jointly issued by the Ministry of Education and the Guangming Daily.

This was the third time this year that books published by SNNU press were listed in the booklist, after the “Chinese Characteristics and World Vision” in July and the “Collection of Colored Chinese Folk Clay Sculptures: Nigugu of Junxian County” in August.

The book “Visiting an Ancient Village” published in August is the oral autography of Mr Shi Xingbang, a famous archeologist and the former director of Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology. Mr Shi has spent more than 70 years of his life on archeological investigation and was the first person to host the large scale pre-historical settlement ruins in China. It tells many episodes of Mr Shi’s life and reveals some archeological anecdotes and mysteries, such as the glowing of Buddha's finger bone sarira unearthed at Famen Temple, the treasures buried in the Qianling Mausoleum, the accident during the excavation of Xi’an Banpo site and the stolen Qin Terra-cotta general head.
