The Russian Center at Shaanxi Normal University was awarded one of the five best centers among more than 100 centers around the world by the Russian World Foundation at the Seventh Russian World Conference held in the Tauride Palace of St Petersburg the during November 3 and 4, 2013.

Ms Meng Xia, Chinese-side director of the Russian Center and dean of Russian Department of Shaanxi Normal University, and Ms. Natalia Tsareva, Russian-side director of the Russian Center, attended the conference.

They delivered a speech titled “Russian in Xi’an, the starting place of Silkroad”, which drew great attention of audience. They were also interviewed by the Russian World radio and magazine.

The Russian World Conference is held each year by the Russian World Foundation with the purpose of spreading Russian language and culture to the world.

More than 800 experts, scholars and directors of Russian Centers worldwide attended this year’s conference. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Medvedev sent their messages to congratulate the conference.

The SNNU Russian Center was established in September 2013 and has since held various activities with the support of books, equipments and facilities from the Foundation.
