SNNU Scholars Speak for Shaanxi Officials on Cultural Development

Five SNNU scholars - invited by the Shaanxi provincial government - spoke at a series of lectures on cultural industry development and cultural advancement, for officials from the provincial government in November and December 2013.

Prof. Zhou Tianyou of the School of History and Culture spoke on the “History and Cultureof Han Dynasty (206 B.C.-220 A.D.) and Related Cultural Development Proposals”.

Prof. Zhou Weizhou of the Institute of Western Frontier of China analyzed the political, economic and cultural aspects of the Northern Dynasties (386-581A.D.), with special emphasis on Western Wei Dynastyand the Northern Zhou Dynasty which had Xi’an city as their capitals.

Prof. Du Wenyu of the School of History and Culture presented an introduction and analysis of the history and culture of the Sui Dynasty (581-618 A.D.) and Tang Dynasty (618-907 A.D.), particularly on the cultural achievements and characteristics and important cultural relics.

Prof. Hou Yongjian of the Institute of Historical Environment and Economic Social Development in Northwest China analyzed the value of the ruins of Tongwan City (City of Unification literally, the capital city of Xia Kingdom of the Eastern Jin Dynasty and the Sixteen Kingdoms (317-420 A.D.)) in today's Jingbian county of Shaanxi province.) from the perspectives of history, archaeology, architecture and environmental science, and suggested the preservation and tourism development of the ruins.

Prof. Li Lingfu of the Institute of Historical Environment and Economic Social Development in Northwest China spoke on the “Historical Change of China’s Ancient Capitals” and presented his proposal for building an ancient capital culture in Shaanxi province.

This series of lectures was held for the leading provincial and local officials to better understand the province’s cultural resources and historical relics, so as to broaden their vision on cultural industrial development to serve the greater mission of cultural advancement.
