On the afternoon of January 21st, the Scientific Cooperation Agreement between QUST and LANxess was signed at QUST. Party Secretary Mr. Gaoqing, President Mr. Ma Lianxiang, Vice-President Liu Guangye, Vice-Director of Qingdao Science and Technology Bureau Mr. Xu Hui, Vice-Governor of QUST Sifang District Mr. Wang Yongliang, and persons-in-charge from LANxess, MOE Key Laboratory of Rubber and Plastics, and College of Polymer Science and Engineering, as well as Qingdao Municipal Technology Bureau attended the signing ceremony. President Ma Lianxiang and Ms. Guo Xiangyao, the Manager of Asia Pacific Technical Center & Market Development, signed the Agreement, representing each party.
Mr. Gao Qing delivered a speech at the signing ceremony. He said the Agreement marked a substantial stage of the cooperation between QUST and LANxess ( Germany ). Mr. Gao Qing expressed the gratitude on behalf of QUST to Qingdao Municipal Government and Sifang District Government for their elaborative work on supporting the cooperation. He also hoped that under the guidance of our government, the cooperation between QUST and LANxess will make its own contributions to the development of rubber industry of China and the world.
According to the Agreement, both parties will thoroughly make use of their own advantages of talents, equipments and resources, to cultivate high-quality talents, hold key projects of technological research and transform scientific research achievements into productivity.

On July 17th, 2008, LANxess ( Qingdao ) High-performance Rubber R&D Center was officially put into use. The Center, covering 3100m2 , and locating in QUST Municipal Technology Park , is the first R&D center LANxess has ever set up outside Germany . The opening of the center is a milestone of scientific cooperation between QUST and LANxess, and a solid step of building “ Rubber Valley ” in North Qingdao planned and being implemented by Qingdao Government and QUST.
