The 4th International Symposium of Techniques of Acupuncture, Moxibusion, and Tuina / 2016 Annual Symposium of Application of Acupoints , Auricular Acupoints and Acupuncture Education

Date: September 10, 2017

From September 10th to 12th, the 4th International Symposium of  Techniques of Acupuncture, Moxibusion, and Tuina / 2016 Annual Symposium of Application of Acupoints,Auricular Acupoints and Acupuncture Education was held jointly by the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and China Association of Acupuncture-Moxibustion at BUCM. Nearly 300 participants from the United States, Canada, Italy, Iran, Columbia, Albania, Serbia, Hong Kong and mainland China took part in this event.

President Xu Anlong pointed out in his opening speech that we should adhere to the original fine tradition and innovate at the same time with a global outlook for better development of acupuncture. At the starting point of a new journey since the 60th anniversary of BUCM, we should give full play to the leading role of acupuncture and tuina to make greater contribution to the health and well-being of the humanity.

After the opening ceremony, Han Jisheng, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Shi Xuemin, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered keynote speeches. Then 21 experts from home and abroad made demos of their acupuncture and tuina techniques including He Shuhuai, Guo Tingying, Zhu Jiang, Cheng Kai, Liu Qingguo, Li Yaomin, She Yanfen and others from China, and Lao Lixing (USA), Amir Hooman Kazemi (Iran), Pan Xiaochuan (Canada), Jeffrey Dann (USA), and others from abroad. The conference offered contents with distinctive characteristics from both Chinese and Western perspectives. Being very inclusive, it showcased the latest findings of leading research at home and abroad, and demonstrated the unique acupuncture and tuina techniques from the grassroots, reflecting the highest level of such demonstration. The demonstrations were made with great care, clear explanation, and superb skills, and were highly recognized.

Such demonstrations have been held successfully for four times already. This year's conference is more meaningful because it is a great gift given by the School of Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Tuina to BUCM in celebration of its 60th anniversary, a systemic review of the academic essence of acupuncture at home and abroad, and a starting point of future development of acupuncture.
