A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University and Bridata Co. Ltd, a company involved in the investment and financing of infrastructure and public services throughout China.

A signing ceremony was held in the XJTLU Museum, where Dr Yimin Ding (pictured below, left), vice president of XJTLU, and Guangrui Xiao CEO of Bridata, co-signed the document to establish this Public-Private Partnership.

A Public-Private Partnership, or PPP, is an operation model that encourages private companies and those with capital to cooperate with the government in the construction of public infrastructure.

In accordance with the MoU, XJTLU and Bridata will cooperate in the following fields:

• PPP data and academic research cooperation;
• the organisation of professional training in PPP-related fields;
• professional education and degree programmes, including but not limited to course module design, MBA programmes, MPM programmes and other PPP-related degree programmes;
• the organisation of PPP-related conferences and forums.

Dr Joon Sik Kim (pictured above), head of the Department of Urban Planning and Design at XJTLU, delivered a speech at the event about PPP and city planning.

“This agreement will build a platform for communication between our academic departments and enterprises, exerting a significant influence upon XJTLU’s study of the PPP model,” said Dr Kim.
